WEBSITE DESIGN · SALT LAKE CITY
You can't outspend Salt Lake. You can outbuild it.
Custom-coded sites for SLC service businesses stuck behind franchises, directory listings and competitors with fifteen years of reviews. Built faster and structured tighter than the incumbents bothered with — then handed over in your name.
01WHAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY UP AGAINST
Search your own service. Count how many results are yours.
Attach "Salt Lake City" to almost any service keyword and the first screen is national franchises with in-house marketing teams, Yelp and Angi holding two or three slots, and a couple of local companies that have been stacking reviews since before you started. That field doesn't break for a nicer hero image. It breaks for pages that load faster, answer the exact question the searcher typed, and carry cleaner structured data than anyone above them bothered to implement.
Directories own the results you should own
Yelp, Angi and Thumbtack rank for your service in your city, then rent your own customers back to you as leads. The only way past them is a page that answers the query better than their list does.
Clicks cost more here than anywhere else in Utah
SLC has the state's highest search volume and its highest cost per click. Every month you're not ranking organically is a month you're paying the ad price to be in a race you could place in for free.
One homepage aimed at the entire valley
Sugar House, Millcreek, Murray, Midvale, Sandy and Draper are separate markets in the map pack, and so are West Valley and Taylorsville across I-15. A single page pointed at all of them competes properly in none of them.
There's an account manager between you and the work
Salt Lake has more agencies than anywhere in the state, and most sell retainers, discovery phases and monthly minimums. A copy change taking two weeks is a symptom of that model, not a bug in it.
02WHAT YOU GET
What ships instead of a monthly retainer.
A structure that matches the valley
Pages built around the neighborhoods and suburbs you actually take jobs in, from Sugar House down to Draper and across to West Valley — because Google ranks those separately whether or not your site admits it.
Speed used as a competitive edge
Hand-written code, no page builder, tuned to score in the 90s on Core Web Vitals. In a market where the incumbents are on aging WordPress themes, that gap is one of the few things you can win outright in week one.
The schema your competitors skipped
LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ markup so Google can read what you do, where you do it and what it costs. Most page-one results in this city still don't have it.
Copy written for the query, not the brochure
Each page answers one specific search the way a person would ask it. That's how you beat a directory listing that has authority but nothing useful on the page.
Google Business Profile and a review path
Claimed, categorized, and wired to a simple way of asking happy customers for a review. Reviews are the moat in this market, and it's the one asset that compounds while you sleep.
Search Console and analytics in your name
Verified and handed over, so you can watch which neighborhoods and which searches send calls instead of taking my word for it.
Fixed scope, fixed price, no handoff
The person who audits your site on the first call is the person writing the code. Nothing is quoted out and nobody sits between you and the build.
A 90-day bug warranty, and you own everything
In writing. Code, repo, domain, hosting and analytics are yours on final payment, with no subscription needed to keep it online.

04STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Questions people actually ask.
You don't beat them on budget, so don't try. You beat them on the things money buys slowly: a page that loads in under two seconds, content that answers the exact search instead of describing your company, and structured data that tells Google precisely what you do and where. National franchises run on shared corporate templates that nobody can change locally, which is exactly the gap a small operator can walk through.
No. I'm in West Jordan, about twenty minutes down the valley, and the studio is remote-first. I'll drive up for a kickoff or a launch meeting any time, but I'm not going to pretend there's a downtown suite — plenty of firms list an address they visit once a month, and I'd rather you know what you're buying.
Between $3,000 and $9,000 for a custom-coded site, the same as anywhere else in the state. SLC projects tend to land higher in that band, not because of the address but because competing here usually means more service pages, more neighborhood coverage and written copy. The number is agreed in writing before any code exists.
Longer here than anywhere else in Utah, and I'd be lying if I said otherwise. Technical wins — speed, structure, schema, a fixed Business Profile — often show up within four to eight weeks. Displacing an established competitor on a high-volume keyword is a six-to-twelve-month project, and it depends as much on reviews and referring links as on anything I build.
Sometimes, yes. If you need calls next week, ads are the honest answer and I'll tell you that on the call rather than sell you a site. The catch is that SLC has the most expensive clicks in the state, so ads work best as a bridge while the organic pages mature, not as the permanent plan. Doing both and dropping the ad spend as rankings arrive is how most of my clients here handle it.
Then buy Squarespace or Wix and I'll tell you which one fits. For a brand-new business that's genuinely the right first move, and I'll set up your Google Business Profile while we're talking. Custom only makes sense once the site has to earn its cost back — in this market, that usually means you already know what a booked job is worth.
